Sarfan Center Sukkot: A Season of Wonder, Gratitude and Growth

This Sukkot, preschoolers from every classroom at the Sarfan Early Childhood Center came together to celebrate one of the most joyful holidays on the Jewish calendar. Through storytelling, crafts, hands-on sensory activities and a special trip to the Sarfan Sukkah, our children experienced the holiday in ways they could see, touch and feel, and they shared those festive moments with friends both old and new.

Our teachers approached the holiday creatively and with intention, finding meaningful ways to connect even our youngest learners to Sukkot's traditions. Sometimes all you need is a good book and a captive audience. With excitement and animation, our teachers brought each story to life, and the children leaned in, wide-eyed and eager to hear what came next. Those moments sparked curiosity, invited questions and opened the door to the gratitude that sits at the heart of this season.

Crafts and sensory play carried that learning further. Little hands decorated, explored and created, turning the ideas they heard in stories into something they could hold. Visiting the Sarfan Sukkah gave the holiday a real place to live. Stepping inside, the children could look up through the roof, take in the decorations and experience the simple joy of gathering together in a sukkah, just as Jewish families have done for generations.

Sukkot also arrives at a fitting moment in our school year. The start of the year is a magical time, filled with new explorations, new friendships and remarkable growth. Sukkot celebrates harvest, hospitality and thankfulness for what we have, and it gives us a chance to pause and appreciate how far our children have already come. It marks a unique transition in our learning journey, one we cherish year after year.

We are grateful to our teachers for the care and creativity they brought to this celebration, and to our families for being part of our community. Chag Sukkot Sameach!
