Camp season is upon us, and the number one question that is on a parent’s mind when looking for a summer program is: Does this camp take the personal safety of my child seriously?
Camp Chaverim at the J stands true to our commitment to provide a safe and enjoyable summer for our campers and staff. This year, Camp Chaverim strengthened that commitment, achieving CampSafe® certification ahead of the 2026 season, joining a national network of more than 15,000 trained camp staff.
CampSafe® is an innovative, interactive training program endorsed by the American Camp Association (ACA), created by experts in child safety. The program is built on a whole-camp approach: every staff member from counselors to administration completed the training. CampSafe® trained staff are equipped to recognize risk, model healthy relationships and boundaries and serve as trusted providers for the campers in their care.
"Great summers are built by great counselors — people who nurture a sense of inclusion and community from the very first day," shared Camp Chaverim Director Naioki Wood. "Our team undergoes multi-day professional training and courses as we prepare for a summer of challenges, outdoor adventure and everything in between. This summer, our team proudly added CampSafe® certification to that list. Safety is more than a set of rules or a checklist. Creating proactive, lasting safety culture is the most effective way to ensure the magic of the summer camp experience."
We can't wait to welcome campers through our doors and give them the safe, joyful, unforgettable summer they deserve. Camp Chaverim opens for Summer 2026 on June 22.
