In the Family Way
by Laney Katz Becker

A historical fiction novel set in suburban Ohio in 1965, focusing on a group of housewives navigating personal challenges, marriage and pregnancy before Roe v. Wade, exploring themes of female friendship, autonomy and reproductive rights through characters dealing with unwanted pregnancies, infertility and the changing roles of women. The story centers on Lily Berg, a doctor's wife who takes in a pregnant teenager, Betsy, and explores the lives of her friends and sister as they grapple with the limited choices available to them in that era.
