Michael Hoberman explores the history of seventeenth and eighteenth-century Jewish – Christian interaction in the New World, and especially in North America's British colonies.

As long-time devotees of the Hebrew Bible, Protestants thought they knew all about Jewish history and Judaism as a religion. Their encounters with actual Jews, occurring as they did against the backdrop of a rapidly commercializing Atlantic World, brought many surprises.
